B.A.A. Marathon app let’s the world join in on the Boston’s historic run
Apply for the Boston Marathon, get excited and spend way too much money on new running gear only to receive the unfortunate news that your application was unsuccessful? Fear not as now you can take part in the race – well sort of – with the new B.A.A. (Boston Athletic Association) Marathon app for iOS and Android.
Due to the tragedy of last year’s marathon, the rise in applications has been a real issue for the B.A.A. who can only permit 36,000 runners for the actual day. In an attempt to make all feel involved the new app will allow anyone to contribute whether they are able to run a full marathon or 100 metres.
Simply sign up to the app and allocate your attempting distance, then you have from the moment you download the app until the closing curtains of race day to complete your challenge. You even compete in a team breaking the run down into sections for each member or join an already existing virtual team. You also get a printable bib number to feel more the part.
Admittedly running around your hometown or local running track is not the same as the buzz of a big city with thousands of others, but the B.A.A. make it clear that it’s all about setting out and achieving a goal, it also give runners the opportunity to pledge there miles and donations to The One Fund which helps the survivors and families effected by the bombings of 2013. If competitors are successful they also receive their finishers badge.
