Meet Alta – Fitbit’s latest wearable
The wearables are coming thick and fast from Fitbit. The latest addition to the line up is Alta, a fashion focussed device that, based on its advertising campaign, has its sights set firmly on the female fitness market.
Available to preorder directly from the company for $129.95, Alta comes in black, blue, plum, or teal.
The fashion focus is evident once again with users able to swap bands, including $60 leather versions and a $100 stainless steel metal bracelet option. Fitbit has revealed that “Alta Gold” and Tory Burch Designer Collection bands are coming soon.
As expected, the Alta will track a user’s steps, distance, calories burned and active minutes. It also has a handy way of motivating users by giving reminders on when to move. The battery life is impressive too, with the Alta being able to work for 5 full days and nights of uptime without needing a recharge.
It’s pretty useful side from fitness tracking too. Alta’s OLED “Tap Display” provides stats, time and smartphone notifications. When paired with an iPhone, users can receive call, text and calendar alerts on their wrist.
The Alta is the second new wearable device announced by Fitbit so far in 2016. The first model, the Blaze, debuted last month at CES, featuring a color touchscreen, heart rate monitor, and step and sleep tracking, priced at $199.95.
