runtastic launches two new apps for weight loss and outdoor pursuits

Not content with an already vast array of apps and services designed at keeping us all in shape, runtastic have launched two new additions – Ideal Weight 2.0 and Altimeter.

Here’s the lowdown on both:

Ideal Weight 2.0 is a simple BMI calculator that helps users determine and reach a healthy weight. The app graphs weight history, provides diet and fitness tips, and lets users see how their weight compares to averages based on age, gender and country.

Users can expect all of the usual social sharing capabilities, keeping your friends and family updated on your progress. Ideal Weight 2.0 is free to download for iPhone.

Altimeter is aimed at those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. Its compass feature makes navigation easy, and it provides useful data like altitude, temperature, GPS coordinates, and sunrise/sunset times.

Just like Ideal Weight, runtastic has social covered. Take images from the top of a mountain and share them, along with altitude, GPS and weather details. Altimeter is also free and available for both iPhone and Android.

The new apps come just a few months after runtastic announced their own range of gadgets designed at complimenting the apps.

It always worries me when companies start rolling out product after product, especially after experiencing such huge success thus far. Too many get complacent and take their eye off the ball. Hopefully the new apps can live up to the hype.
