Keep the blues at bay with the Depression Mood Monitor app

With Depression Awareness Week taking place from 22nd – 28th April and the last few days in London having been very rainy, we decided we wanted to find an app that could help us monitor our moods.

The Depression Mood Monitor app lets users track mood changes as they happen (much like MyFitnessPal does with calories), and records them in a very simple, easy-to-read chart format. It also features comment and alert functions, and a one-step email so that both charts and comments can be sent to the email recipients of your choice, such as your GP, therapist or carer. This app is designed to complement and enhance existing treatments and gives health providers accurate up-to-date information to help manage depressive disorders.

If you tap in more than one mood change over a 24 hour period, the ‘comments’ screen will automatically pop up and encourage you to note down information about why you have had a mood change e.g. what situation could have triggered it. There is also a Bipolar Mood Monitor app available by the same developer.

Available via the iTunes App Store for £2.49.
