Will the Macaw app be your ultimate mobile health hub?
From sleep managers to diet trackers, more and more people are becoming increasingly interested in monitoring their personal health on a daily basis, using their mobile phones and a range of other fancy gadgets.
Last week during the 2011 mHealth Summit, an app called Macaw was introduced, which is set to make waves in the mobile health market as it acts as the ultimate personal health hub for users who want to keep track of every area of their personal lives, health and fitness activity all of the time.
Macaw can be paired and synced with all kinds of wireless tracking devices, like scales, pedometers and blood pressure monitors. This means everything gets stored within the Macaw application along with all the usual stuff you’d expect from an advanced health and fitness app, like personal goals, nutritional information, motivational tips and details about how you’re improving each day. For those that live from to-do lists, Macaw is ideal because you get a long list of the things you need to complete each and everyday. Like many apps out there at the moment that encourage you to eat well and get moving, Macaw also rewards you for doing well and reaching your goals too, which has been known to give people much better results in the long run.
Macaw could well prove to be the next step in mobile health, as having everything you need in one central hub makes the technology more accessible to the general public and much easier to use, instead of flicking between different apps and tracking devices. It also means you’re much more likely to reach your goals if you have everything in one place too, so we imagine there’d be a much higher success rate for those who have tried everything else in the past.
Macaw has been developed by US Preventive Medicine Inc and wireless health network provider Qualcomm Life and it’s available for both iPhone and Android devices for free.
